1. Cannabis was cultivated in China for therapy (and recreation) over 4,700 years ago.

2. More than 20 prescription medicines containing marijuana were sold in U.S. pharmacies at
the turn of the 20th century. Cannabis-based medications were commonly available until 1942,
when cannabis was stricken from the U.S. Pharmacopeia, the official compendium of drugs
considered effective. From 1937 to 1942 the federal government collected a tax of $1 per ounce
for such drugs.

3. More than 20,000 studies on marijuana and its components have been published,
according to the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, an advocacy group.
Of these, around 100 have looked into therapeutic value on human subjects.

4. The federal government is in the cannabis-growing business. Under a federal contract, the
University of Mississippi in Oxford cultivates marijuana for use by researchers, who have to be
cleared by the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

5. The plant has nearly 500 chemical compounds, more than 60 of which are called
cannabinoids.

6. Sixteen states and the District of Columbia have legalized medical marijuana: Alaska, Arizona
California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico,
Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington. But patients in these states face federal
prosecution for using it—or for growing or possessing pot for medical purposes.

7. Federal law prohibits physicians from prescribing or otherwise actively supplying patients
with the drug. But in 2002 the U.S. Supreme Court backed an appellate court ruling that
physicians who discuss it with patients, or provide oral or written recommendations, are
protected.

Easy tips for medical grower beginners!

Medical Marijuana means medical, which is the term for "Medicine". Wheather it's passion, curiousity, or just a simple interest, anyone can grow top quality medicine without having to read a cannabis bible. Lets keep it simple!
1. If your growing from seed, most important thing is how viable it is, meaning the density, shape, etc. you want strong healthy genetics! So you have the best chosen beans ready to germinate, My opinion in germination is the easy microwavable plate and paper towel method. Get a round plate, then you want to fold a piece of the paper towel twice, put your seeds in the first fold so you can cover it witht the second.
KEEP WET AT ALL TIMES! PUT IN DARK DRY AREA!
germination should take between 1-3 days if more, not an issue!
2. So your babies have poked out their white little root tails. Lets get a red plastic cup, poke maybe 4 pen size holes for aeration (ROOTS NEED/LOVE oxygen! BUT NO LIGHT!). Now starting out and not knowing how to mix a perfect ratio of n-p-k let's get a bag of some foxfarm preferred soil with your Nitrogen and main Micro-nutrients which are cructial in this stage of the plants life! Sanitize your hands so no pest or diseases can slip in! Fill each cup for how many seeds you have to plant, it's not a good idea to pack it in tight because of aerating, poke a hole about an inch and a half, put the seed with the root tail down then fill lightly with dirt! always! Keep moist! at all times!

3. Little ones need and again love a nice humid environment 75%-90% preferred humidity. let's choose a standard size closet with 3 27 watt red spectrum CFL's you can get for a cheap 15 dollars at your local hardware store. Of course without oxygen your plants won't grow! So let's add a little oscilating fan for air flow and to create your humidity with the moisture from the soil and the ligts.
My preference and what i've had best results with is 24 hour lighting for what your plants are in whats called vegatative stage. Make sure your growing area is always clean and sanitized and do not bring people or anything that could have little critters such as spider-mites that thrive for fresh young natural seedlings! If you watch the plant grow, it will tell you what it needs, if its wilting, your probably lacking water or over watered. This is whole process is to achieve the most smooth, clean, effective medicine for your medical purposes. Through common knowledge its known that a native plant thrives the best where it came from, well, Cannabis came from the earth, so wouldn't it want to be grown in its natural native environment?

MCJ Interviews Mary Lynn Mathre

I have been a registered Nurse for over 35 years. I began in medical/surgical adult care - nursing and the hospital system. Along the way, I learned about patients using cannabis. I have a Masters prepared background in medical/surgical nursing. In the early 80’s, I was a supervising nurse in a small hospital in Washington State. Our Director of Nursing was quite concerned because an elderly patient was coming in with what she called a “marijuana pill.

IRS Ruling Against Harborside No Surprise by: Mark Pedersen

What has happened to Harborside, though regrettable and terribly tragic for those patients that rely on it, is far from being a surprise. The fact is, the only thing that has kept the state and Federal Governments from locking down ALL of the dispensaries in Cali and the other states with cannabis programs has been the sheer number of participants in their medical cannabis programs.

Round Table Meeting with Judge James P. Gray, Judy K. Thompson & Ron Niehouse (MCJ)

If you’re gonna use any, well no, not my drug cause it’s a legal drug, that’s alcohol, that’s okay. I can be a social drinker. But if you’re marijuana, you’re the devil weed. They don’t draw those distinctions intentionally. And they will accuse me of being a drug legalizer. Well, what does that mean? Anytime you’re a drug legalizer it has the intended connotation that I don’t care if your 12 year old daughter buys some cocaine in a vending machine across from her junior high school. That’s the connotation that they want. Because it will freeze peoples minds. It will stop the discussion in its tracks & that’s exactly the intended outcome.
